SERVICES: 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 25th, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. OFFICIATING: Rev. Randall Burton. VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with one hour prior to service time of Wednesday. FINAL RESTING PLACE: Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jennings County. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Dorretta S. Spurgeon, 60, of Columbus, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her home. Dorretta was born June 28, 1953 to Oscar & Minnie Lester Roberts they both are deceased. She married Jonathan D. Spurgeon July 1, 1993. Dorretta was previously employed at Arvin Industries and Dolly Madison Bakery. She was a member of Northview Church in Columbus. Her hobbies included gardening, camping and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband; brothers, James Roberts of Aurora, IL and Walter (Cindy) Roberts of Columbus, IN; sisters, Dennetta (Chuck) Watts of Columbus, IN, Diana (Charlie) Steigerwalt of Columbus, IN and Elizabeth Jones of Columbus, IN.

Jonathan, Miss Dorretta was a gem. She always had a smile and hug for me, prayed and cried with me, believed in victory with me. While we will miss her, we know that she had victory in Jesus, that she was welcomed with loving arms into glory. She will be greatly missed, and always be loved. Devin, the girls and I will always remember and miss her.
