Dustin Newland, 42, of Columbus, died on April 6, 2022. He was born December 11, 1979, in Columbus, Indiana, and is the son of Harold E. Newland and Carol J. Small Herron.
Dustin enjoyed collecting coins and rocks. He was always up for a good game of pool and enjoyed fishing. Dustin especially loved music.
The funeral will be at 5:00 p.m., April 14, 2022, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Brown officiating. Calling will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
Survivors included his companion, Cristy Star Western; mother, Carol J. Small Herron, and stepfather Everett (Babe) Herron; daughter, Cidney Faith Newland; brother, Issac Newland; stepdaughters Maura and Carly Western; sister, Tammy Newland; nephews, Tristen and Issac Newland; several uncles and great-nieces Stella and Skyla Newland.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harold E. Newland.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.

Enjoyed having Dusty along on one of our outings up at Brown county State Park. He loved nature and he loved animals and he loved playing with Rocco the family’s Pitbull. He had a very loving spirit. Loved everyone.

Thank you Dusty for giving me my granddaughter Cidney. She is the most precious present you could have given me. Also thank you for loving Cristy. You guys had a crazy relationship, lol. But your love for each other shined through. Like you mom and I always said. Bonnie and Clyde. Rest in peace, and know as always, I will take care of your little girl.
