MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Edwin L. Benedict, 79, of Columbus, died at 10:41 a.m. June 29, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Edwin was born in Vevay, Indiana, February 2, 1936, to Marion and Helen (Fergeson) Benedict. He married Margaret Eastep on June 7, 1958, in Washington, D.C. Edwin graduated from Vevay High School and the University of Indianapolis. He was a charter member of Parkside Baptist Church and served as the church treasurer. He also served as treasurer of South Central Baptist Association. He retired early as a corporate accountant from Cummins Engine Company and also retired as an auditor with the State of Indiana. Edwin was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed bowling in the local men's leagues. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; sons, Jim Benedict of Columbus and Phil Benedict of Carlisle, Indiana; a daughter, Angie (Brian) Schultz of Columbus; a sister, Libby (Donnie) Denzik of Louisville, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Emily and Alyssa Schultz. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Warren Benedict; and a sister, Mary Louise Miles.
