SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Friday. OFFICIANT: Rev. Wes Jones BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors to be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home. Elisha D. Elkins, 84, of McShane Street, died at 9:17 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Elisha was born May 23, 1930, in Cortland, the son of James and Edna Fleetwood Elkins. He married Eleanor M. Edens February 25, 1956. Elisha was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Laborers Union No. 741 for 63 years and had been employed with Dunlap and Company. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Survivors include his son, Larry (Jayne Ellis) Elkins of Columbus; daughters, Susan Barnett of Columbus, Diane (Steve) Niemoeller of DeLand, Florida, and Patty (Ron) England of Columbus; a brother, Elza "Gene" Elkins of Columbus; a sister, Geneva Warner of Columbus; grandchildren, Justin (Teresa) Kendrick, Darrell (Lyndsey) Kendrick Jr., Troy (Rhiannon) Napier, Jason (Becca) Napier, Jessica England, Kevin (Tina) England, Doug England, Steve (Kim) England, Derek Elkins, Travis Brown and Ashlee Duncan-Elkins; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor; brothers, Claude, Cliff, Clyde and Lester Elkins; sisters, Vallie Brown, Alma Mahoney, Erlean Sigler, Martha Elkins and Mary Hankins; and a grandson, David England.
