Lustig McKinney, 94, of Taylor Road, died at 3:07 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Four Seasons Healthcare. Elizabeth was born September 5, 1921, in Bartholomew County, the daughter of Daniel and Hilda Rossman Eckelman. She married William H. Lustig who preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Lawrence McKinney who also preceded her in death, June 15, 2010. Elizabeth graduated from Columbus High School. After high school she graduated from Fort Wayne Lutheran Nursing School and often mentioned the many hours the nursing students worked with little or no vacations. In 1942, she began working at Columbus Regional Hospital and lived in the nurse's residence beside the hospital. She began her career as a surgical nurse and then served the hospital in various capacities, with her longest position being as a supervisor. Elizabeth retired from the hospital in the 1980s. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking. Survivors include her son, Dr. William F. "Bill" (Debbie) Lustig of Franklin; sister, Katie Wilson of Columbus; grandchildren, Megan Lustig, Jacob Lustig, Joseph (Rachel) Lustig, Peter (YanYan) Lustig and Lydia (Andrew) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Gavin Lustig, Eliza Johnson and Cooper Johnson; and a former daughter-in-law, Kristi Lustig of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Hilda Rossman Eckelman; husbands, William H. Lustig and Lawrence McKinney; a brother, George Eckelman; and a sister, Marcille Walker.

  1. I have lots of memories of Libby. When I was young she pierced my ears. I am pretty sure I caught my first fish at Bill & Libby’s. Every time I was in the hospital she would come in and make sure I was being taken care of. The Lustigs and Ecklemans are very much in my thoughts and prayers. Love always.
