Coomer, 83, of Columbus, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Covered Bridge Health Campus. Ellie was a charter member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church and had a strong faith in God and the power of prayer. She loved to sing and also loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Born in Edmonton, Ky., June 17, 1930, Mrs. Coomer was the daughter of Lee Burris and Mae Harper Burris. She married the Rev. James H. Coomer May 8, 1948. He preceded her in death Sept. 25, 2001. Survivors include sons, David (Bev) Coomer of Antigo, WI, Danny (Rena) Coomer, Mark (Cheryl) Coomer, and Paul (Melinda) Coomer, all of Columbus, IN; a brother, William Burris of Edmonton, KY; sisters, Alberta (Clifford) McCray and Maylene Ervin, both of Edmonton, KY; grandchildren, Angie Coomer, Amanda Stout, Jeremy (Tonya) Coomer, Hannah Coomer, Kaitlyn Coomer, Rachel Coomer, Josh (Ashley) Coomer, and Sarah Coomer; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
