Emma Jean Smith, 80, of Columbus, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Emma was born September 30, 1935 in Wise, Virginia to Hughea & Anna B. Beverly Masters. She married Bruce Manuel Smith. Emma was a devoted, active member of Lowell General Baptist Church and received great joy from providing loving care to others. Survivors include her children; Vada A. (Kenneth) Spencer of Scipio, IN, Tommy Dave (Tammy) Smith of Columbus,IN, Sherry L. (Chuck) Luse of Hamilton, OH, Charles R. Smith, Jennifer S. (Steve) O’Connell of Franklin, IN & Kenneth R. Smith of Columbus, IN; brothers, Charles T. Masters, Ed Masters & Billy R. Masters all of Wise, Virginia; a sister, Eulena Holbrook of Bristol, TN; also surviving are 10 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce on November 26, 1980; sisters, Grady Marshall, Mildred Skeen & Valena Sue Salyer.

We will truly miss Sister Smith she was a wonderful lady and always kind and that beautiful smile and loved my no baked cookies I have a lap blanket she gave me just like hers with Easter flowers I will cherish my blanket and her memories forever and Sigel my son said he will never forget her she was there for him when he lost his grandma and he will always love her You made it Sister Smith we love you and miss you always my dear friend
