Eric Raymond Hult
June 16, 1929 - October 24, 2009
Eric Raymond Hult, 80, of Talley Road, died Saturday afternoon, October 24th, 2009, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Eric was born in Chicago, IL, to Swedish immigrants Frederick and Emma Hult. He attended Bowen High School until he enlisted, at age 17, in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Seaman Apprentice until his honorable discharge in 1948.
February 3, 1951, he married Mildred Zelit in Chicago, IL. They had two children, Adele and Bob. The family owned and managed The Fabric Shop in Munster, IN, for 35 years until their retirement in 2001.
As a career retail sales person, Eric found it difficult to retire completely after his move to Columbus in 2001. He enjoyed his job in the mens department at Elder Beerman and never missed an opportunity to ask his doctors when hed be able to return to workand golf.
An avid golfer, Eric enjoyed his time on the golf course. Anyone who played with Eric could appreciate his positive approach to the game. Regardless of his score, after a great shot at the end of a round he always exclaimed, Thats what keeps you coming back!
Eric simply loved to play. Whether he was dancing with his grandchildren at weddings or Bat Mitzvahs, engaging in a game of hide-and-seek with one of eight great-grandchildren, competing at Canasta with his late brother and sister-in-law, or teasingly hiding a cup of real coffee from his wife of 58 years, Eric had a sense of humor that brought the family together in a gentle, loving way.
Eric is survived by his wife Millie; daughter, Adele Fine (William); son, Bob (Julie); grandchildren, Rachel Guajardo (Marcus), Michael Hult, Sarah OBrien (Michael), Elizabeth McCollum (Clark), Rebecca Watson, and Megan and David Hult; and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, Macey, Joshua, Madeline, Maddox, Hannah, and Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elsie Hult; and two brothers, Ivar and Einar Hult.
