Erin Kaye Scheidt, 42, of Columbus, IN, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Erin was born in Columbus on November 11, 1981, to Douglas Scheidt and Linda Barkes Scheidt. Erin was a proud graduate of Columbus North High School. She pursued her passion for understanding the human mind by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Indianapolis. Her commitment to service led her to further her education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where she obtained a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Erin's professional life was a testament to her caring nature, as she was currently employed in sales and marketing at GreenTree Senior Living At Westwood, where the residents there became a special part of her life. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Erin's faith was a guiding light in her life and inspired her to live with kindness and generosity. Her creative soul found joy in collecting antiques, painting, gardening and music. Traveling was one of Erin's favorite ways to explore the world, and she cherished the memories made in different cultures and landscapes. Art museums were frequent destinations on her journeys, as she immersed herself in the history and creativity of the places she visited. At home, Erin cherished the time she spent with her son, Gavin and the shenanigans they shared. She found comfort and companionship in the company of her beloved cat, Squishy. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Rodriguez officiating. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Columbarium at a later date. In honor of Erin’s generous gift as an organ and tissue donor, memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Donor Network Foundation. Survivors include her son, Gavin Ley of Columbus, IN; parents, Douglas and Linda Scheidt of Columbus, IN; fiancé, Brian Lodestein of Columbus, IN; brother, Christopher (Tiffany) Scheidt of Columbus, IN; grandfather, Dennis Barkes of Columbus, IN, and nephew, Landen Scheidt of Columbus, IN. Erin was preceded in death by her grandparents, Morris Dale Scheidt, Marian J. Scheidt and Mildred I. Barkes.

  3. We are sending our most heartfelt condolences to Erin’s loved ones, especially her dear Gavin. Erin was such a wonderful friend to me for 20 years. She was so funny and upbeat, so smart and just the kindest person. I will miss her more than I can say.

  5. Omg! I’m soooo saddened by the News😭 it was just clarified to me, by my Mother who’s a resident at GreenTree, of Erin’s death. She was the wonderful person who gave my parents ( J & J Willis ) their initial tour, in June of last year. Erin & I kidded over a couple of phone calls that we were sisters from another mister… I’m sorry I’m just now knowing her last name & I didn’t get to her funeral, I feel just awful 😭 many sincere condolences 💐 Kari A.
