Erna M. Whipker, 84, of Columbus died December 8, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana. Erna worked at Cummins Engine Company from 1945 to 1954 in the accounting department. Erna was a member of First Christian Church and served 17 years in the toddler department. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed reading, college basketball, and baking. Erna was born September 9, 1927 to Glen L. and Cora Wagner Paswater. She married David M. Whipker June 25, 1950 at First Christian Church Chapel. Surviving with her husband are daughters Pam (Scott) Pearson of Las Vegas and Linda (Jeff) Reece of Columbus. Grandchildren, Shelley Pearson of Huntington Beach, California, Jennifer Reece of Indianapolis, Julie Reece of Columbus and Bradley Pearson of Las Vegas. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Glen D. (Beatrice) Paswater, a sister, Rosemary (Robert) Hutson and a nephew Perry W. Hutson. In keeping with Erna's wishes, cremation is planned and a private celebration of life service will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home at 3855 25th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47203.
