Ernest E. Grapevine November 30, 1916 - October 05, 2009 Ernest E. Grapevine, 92, of Greensburg died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Grapevine, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of First Church of God in Greensburg, was a tenant farmer for Roy and Morgan Miers and previously worked at Johnson Wholesale in Greensburg. He was a graduate of Paris Crossing High School and enjoyed playing bingo and euchre. Born in Commiskey Nov. 30, 1916, Mr. Grapevine was the son of Leonidas and Carrie Robbins Grapevine. He married Lois Fay Sullivan Dec. 4, 1944. She preceded him in death Jan. 7, 1983. He married Ina Mae Shearer in 1987. She preceded him in death May 25, 2007. Survivors include sons, Stanley Grapevine of Columbus and Jim (Lisa) Grapevine of St. Paul; a stepson, George Tomlin; daughters, Darlene (John) Lee of Westport, Valerie (Laverne) Wait of Freetown and Lynette Henderson of Westport; stepdaughters, Geraldine Henry and Carolyn Derflinder; a sister, Charlotte Crippen of Burney; grandchildren, John and Jerry Lee, Steven DeWayne Grapevine, Stacy Marie Foster, Scott Henderson, Heather Vinson, Robert Dean Tice, Trina Hammack, Ernest E. Tice and Latricia Grapevine; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, both wives, four brothers, one grandson and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. David Little officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
