Eugene Fred Jackson

Eugene "Gene" Jackson, 81, of Ohio Avenue, died at 8:15 p.m. June 3, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Gene was born January 4, 1937, in Ohio, the son of Toleman and Malvery Bowling Jackson. He married Judith Gay Croxon October 2, 1957. He was a self-employed business owner of Owens Oil Company and had worked for The Republic part-time for many years. He was a member of East Columbus Christian Church, loved sports and enjoyed being a school crossing guard. The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or East Columbus Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Judith; children, Jeffrey Jackson of Columbus, James (Melanie) Jackson of Cowpens of South Carolina, John (Suzette) Jackson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Jennifer Jackson of Columbus; grandchildren, Aubrey (Logan) Conner, Brooks Jackson and Katherine Jackson; step-grandchildren, Brock (Rachel) Wyatt, Shawn (Abby) Wyatt and Brittany (Jody) Martin; great-grandchild, Gwyneth Conner; step-great-grandchildren, Maddison Wyatt, Ellison Wyatt and Raelyn Martin; and brothers, Arthur, Walter and Junior Jackson and sisters, Betty Fox and Linda Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers and two sisters.
