Evelyn Louise Hatfield September 08, 2009 Evelyn Louise Hatfield, 74, of Morningside Drive, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Hatfield was a 1952 graduate of Columbus High School and had been employed in environmental services at Columbus Regional Hospital, retiring after 33 years of service. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion. She enjoyed dancing, music, collecting, photography and loved Christmastime. She loved and enjoyed being around children, especially her children and grandchildren. Born in Bartholomew County Jan. 24, 1935, Mrs. Hatfield was the daughter of Ralph Glen and Ruth Marie Swango Rutan. She married Earl Hatfield, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hatfield is survived by a son, Jerald A. (Kimberly) Nicholas of Freetown; stepsons, Steve (Joyce) Hatfield of Anderson, Dennis (Pam) Hatfield of Scipio and Dallas Hatfield of Columbus; brothers, Ralph W. (Kathryn) Rutan of Columbus, Marvin L. Rutan of Columbus and Raymond E. (Patty) Rutan of Columbus; sisters, Velma R. Gearries of Columbus and Marjorie I. (Sam) Jewell of Columbus; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters, Gladys P. Rutan and Margaret M. Rutan. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Ridder officiating. CALLING: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
