Faye King
June 16, 1953 ~ December 29, 2024
Faye King, a beacon of unwavering love and selflessness, graced this world with her presence on June 16, 1953, in Columbia, Kentucky, and after a life rich with kindness and generosity, she departed peacefully on December 29, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 71. Faye's journey through life was a testament to the power of unconditional love, a narrative that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The daughter of the late Finnis and LouAnn Cowan Burris, Faye was a cherished sister, a devoted wife to her late husband Ronnie King, whom she married on October 8, 1971, and a loving mother to her children. Her legacy is carried on through her daughters, Cassandra (David Lucas) King and Michelle (Robert Norton) Burton, her sons, Kenny (Lora) and Chris King, her adoring grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Though she grieved the loss of her daughter Ronnie "DeeDee" King and grandchildren Elijah and Isaiah King, son in law, Pete Burton, her brother, William “Logie” Burris, as well as her sister Wanda Roberts, her heart remained an inexhaustible wellspring of love for all her family, including her sisters Bertha Bailey, Geneva Hadley, and Jean Eakle, and she is remembered with fondness by her extended family and friends.
Faye's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with joyous moments spent playing bingo, tending to her garden, and creating culinary delights that brought comfort and happiness to many. Her home was an open door to warmth and care, a place where every person she met was treated like family. Faye's philosophy was simple yet profound: "To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world." This belief, often attributed to Dr. Seuss, encapsulated her approach to life.
In a world that often celebrates the grandiose, Faye King was a reminder that the purest form of impact is found in the everyday acts of kindness. Her selfless nature was her hallmark; she was a person who would gladly give all she had to ensure the happiness of others. Her love knew no bounds, and her kindness was a gentle force that transformed lives.
Faye's story is not one of sorrow but a celebration of a life well-lived and a love unbounded. She was a living embodiment of love and kindness, a true testament to the power of putting others before oneself. Her spirit, a guiding light of compassion and generosity, will continue to motivate and uplift us all. A funeral service celebrating Faye’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Burton officiating. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 202,5 and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
As we honor Faye King's memory, let us each strive to emulate her extraordinary example: to live with open hearts, to cherish our loved ones, and to spread kindness without expectation. In doing so, we keep her spirit alive, and her legacy will flourish for generations to come.

Heaven sure gained a precious Angel in Faye. I will remember her always. Love and Prayers to all
I didn’t have the honor of knowing Faye very long, but she was definitely a welcomed light in my life. She always knew how to put a smile on my face no matter what mood I was in. She was very caring, kind, and will be missed dearly.
I had the honor of meeting her on Christmas this year. She welcomed me into her home and ensured I felt comfortable. It was obvious how wonderful, kind, and caring she was. The world is a little less bright without her.
Yes, that was her. She was so kind to everybody and I love my cousin Faye.

When I first came to columbus in 2003, she and her sister Geneva were the first people I met, through my aunt Judi. They met my mom and son prior to me. They welcomed me with open arms and were always very kind to me.
I remember her coming to my garage sales and just chitchat with me.
Such a wonderful lady, I’ll miss you. May you be at peace and prayers to the family.
