Fern Wycoff January 21, 1918 - September 14, 2006 Fern Wycoff, 88, of North Vernon, formerly of Columbus, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Wycoff retired from Columbus Regional Hospital, was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Columbus, and enjoyed playing bingo. Born in Glencoe, Ky., Jan. 21, 1918, Mrs. Wycoff was the daughter of Marchell and Pearl Cates Noel. She married her first husband, Charles Lain Jr., July 3, 1937. She then married Thomas Wycoff Sept. 7, 1946. Surviving are daughters, Darlene Clark of Columbus and Donna Carnahan and Jenny (Willy) Salsman, both of North Vernon; sisters, Molly Drake of Columbus and Esther Johnston of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Cheryl Peppers, Will Salsman, Tamara Day, Angie Carnahan, Shane Salsman and Nikki Monday; 16 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lain Jr., in 1941; her second husband, Thomas Wycoff, in 1980; a son, Charles Lain; a grandson, James Bays; her companion, Louis Dureya, in 2005; brothers, Franklin and Allen Noel; sisters, Daisy Jaggers, Zona Olmstead, Mary Jane Moss and Lucille Noel; and sons-in-law, Donald Clark and William Carnahan.
