Fredrick "Fred" Speer July 21, 1952 - March 14, 2008 Fredrick E. Fred Speer, 55, of Columbus, Ind. died Friday, March 14, 2008 at 8:12 a.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Fred graduated from Columbus North High School. He was a member of the United States Air Force Reserve for six years. Fred was previously employed at Arvin Industries for 34 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elizabethtown Masonic Lodge #249, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Bartholomew County Shrine Club and Murat Temple. Mr. Speer was born July 21, 1952, the son of Weldon E. and Caroline Gillaspy Speer. He married Ava Bond Dec. 5, 1980. Survivors include his daughters; Caron Speer of Indianapolis, Ind. and Courtney Speer of Columbus, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Kimra (Ed) Sturgeon of Martinsville, Ind.; grandchildren, Brandon Barger, Blaine Foddrill, Camden Pedigo and Eli and Isabelle Sturgeon; and a half-brother, John Marion Fuel of Greenfield, Ind. Mr. Speer was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Marcus Speer officiating. VISITATION: Monday, March 17, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service conducted on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
