SERVICES: FUNERAL :Will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mona Safley officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 4 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to the Gary Dean Bryant II Memorial Fund through the funeral home. Gary Dean Bryant II, 43, of Westridge Drive, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, in Tennessee. He was born in Seymour, February 5, 1969, the son of the late Gary Dean Bryant and Sandra Shinolt Weintraut of Elizabethtown. Gary married Sonja Hubbard on August 20, 2005, and she survives. Gary loved his job as a truck driver for Con-Way Freight. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, often helping many of his friends without asking for payment. He was a member of American Legion Post #89 in Seymour, the Legion Riders, as well as ABATE. Gary loved riding his Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, especially going on rides with his wife. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister Sonja Michelle Moore of New Castle; step-son, Harley N. King of Columbus; step-daughters, Nichole Taylor of North Vernon and Karen Taylor of Columbus; uncles, Clifford E. "Shag" Shinolt of Scipio, and Ivan Shinolt of Elizabethtown; his father-in-law, Ron Hubbard of North Vernon; a nephew, Dillon Moore; and a niece, Felisha Moore. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law, Karen Barrett.

  3. I live in Cross Plains and drive I-65 every day to work in Nashville. I wonder how many times have I passed Mr. Bryant on our way. My husband and I are so very, very sorry that Mr. Bryant met such an untimely fate while doing what he knew how to do best. Our prayers are for you and your family that you will feel the love and support of friends and even those you have never met.

  6. It has truly been my pleasure working with Gary these past 2 1/2 years. I will forever be touched by his upbeat personality. His smile was contagious to those around him. He will truly be missed by those of us that have been blessed by his presence every night here in Nashville. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I didn’t personally know Gary very well but have heard on countless occasions what a wonderful son and person Gary was. During my 11+ year friendship with Sandy I can not think of one time that she spoke of him without a huge smile of her face. He truly made her happy and proud. What a loss this is for his family, friends, and all that knew him.
