George Franklin Zimmerman September 30, 1922 - July 29, 2008 George Franklin Zimmerman, 85, of Elizabethtown died at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his home. Mr. Zimmerman retired after working 34 years at Hamilton-Cosco where he was a journeyman toolmaker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the E.M.C. faith. Born in Kentucky Sept. 30, 1922, Mr. Zimmerman was the son of Charlie B. and Ethel Mary Stevens Zimmerman. He married Lena Eva Sidwell April 4, 1946. Survivors include his wife; a son, George (Debbie) Zimmerman Jr. of Elizabethtown; daughters, Shirlon (Thomas) Boswell, Barbara (Larry) Hardin, Dona (Greg) Kinworthy, Betty Elgar and Rebecca (Jack) Jeffries, all of Elizabethtown, Brenda (Mike) Carothers of Seymour and Chris (Bill) NeSmith of South Carolina; grandchildren, Cindy (Matt) Collins, Gary (Robin) Boswell, Mark (Sandy) Boswell, Debra (Doug) Woodard, Katina (Brian) Boccia, Sandi (Josh) Huddleston, Dustie (David) Doty, G.J. (Heidi) Zimmerman, Ryan Jeffries, Alyssa (Todd) Wisner, Laura Elgar, James Elgar, Jennifer Elgar, Mark Grossman, Ryan (Cathy) NeSmith, Randy (Karina) NeSmith, JoAnna (Rob) Hill, Jessica (Tony) Trier, Krissy (Josh) Johnson and Travis Kinworthy; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Leland Zimmerman of Tennessee, Carthel Zimmerman of Ohio and Charlie Zimmerman of Kentucky; and sisters, Velma Abbott, Mae Toler and Catherine Cummins, all of Kentucky, and Genebe Turner of Indiana. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Zimmerman; his parents; a brother, Verdith Zimmerman; and a sister, Lou Golz. Funeral Information VISITATION: Thursday, July 31, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home and also Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. FUNERAL: Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill NeSmith and Rev. Larry Schryer officiating. BURIAL: Donaldson Cemetery with military graveside rites. George Franklin Zimmerman, 85, of Elizabethtown died at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his home.
