George Ison Jr. July 10, 1945 - June 04, 2010 George Ison Jr. of Columbus, age 64 died unexpectedly at his home on Friday evening June 4th 2010. He was born July 10, 1945 in Liverpool England , where his parents met during World War II. As an infant, he came to the United States aboard the Queen Mary, where he won the trophy for Most Beautiful Baby on board the ship. As a child he lived in Cumberland Kentucky until his family moved to Columbus when he was a young man. George was the son of George Ison Sr. and Mary McTaggart Ison His pride and Joy was his daughters Lisa Leisure of Indianapolis and Tammy Pedigo of North Vernon, and he equally loved his son-in-law Brent Pedigo. He retired after more than 40 years of service from Golden Castings, where he was an Industrial Maintenance Repairman. After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of starting his own trucking company. He most enjoyed visiting with his family and numerous friends. He loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. He was the first to stop and help anyone in need. He was fascinated with engineering and mechanics. He enjoyed going to museums and loved to watch the Learning Channel. George kept the toys of the neighborhood children up and running. He is survived by four sisters; Joan McKinnon of Skelmersdale, England, Linda Austerman of Scipio, Shiela Ison, and Faye Hartwell both of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sherry Lynn Ison and a brother David Ison. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday June 9, 2010 at Jewell- Rittman Funeral Home at 3855 25th Street Columbus, Indiana. VISITATION: Will be from 4-8 pm on Tuesday June 8th, and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. ENTOMBMENT: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum. Pall Bearers will be: His best friend Roy Miracle; his Nephews Richard Hartwell and Aaron Ison; his treasured friends Richard Money, Doug Hollenbeck, and Larry West.
