Georgette (George) Parks, 57, of Columbus, died at 10:52 p.m. January 21, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Georgette was born June 15, 1965 in Fort Lee, Virginia, the daughter of Don and Nancy Mathews Hughes. Georgette was a 1983 Columbus North graduate. Georgette was very involved in animal rescue, having rescued her own dog, Willie. She also volunteered for the Indy Honor Flight program serving veterans. Georgette worked in the healthcare field for many years including places such as DSI, and the Indiana Masonic Home. Her family, children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The funeral will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Bundick officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or the Indy Honor Flight, through the funeral home. Survivors include daughters, Samantha (Logan) Lykins of Columbus, and Alexandra (Zachary) Bradford of Indianapolis; a brother, Tim Hughes of Columbus; granddaughters, Peyton Leeann Lykins and Beatrice Ellen Bradford. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Hughes. Arrangements entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear of Georgettes passing. I worked with Georgette and she was always so bubbly and happy, even while she was not feeling well. I Always kept in touch with her and saw her about every other week on my porch. She sure loved her family and the newest grand baby. Condolences to the family, she will be missed.

    • Thank you for sharing these photos! Georgette and i used to work together at pyramid paper products . Sometimes i’d pick her up/give her a ride home . But really she’s the one who picked ME up .. with her love and laughter and fun ways! She’s been to my moms home and to my gramas home with me . They loved her as much as i loved her . You girls were little then . She talked about you all the time . Alex this and Sam that!💌I love these photos .
