Georgia T. Long, an educator, devoted family member, and active community participant, passed away on January 5, 2026, in Columbus, Indiana. Georgia was born on March 13, 1941, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Georgia was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, her faith playing a central role in her existence. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active involvement with varied church activities where she enriched the community with her spirit and devotion. Her passion for life extended to her love of the card table as a Lifetime Master Bridge player. Georgia's competitive yet lighthearted presence made every game an event to remember. She thrived in social settings, exemplifying the perfect blend of a keen mind and a joyful heart. Family meant the world to Georgia. She is survived by her loving son, Gregory Edward (Shari) Long, who, along with his wife, upheld the family's legacy of warmth and unity. She was a loving sister to Bunnie Watson and Penny (Dr. Don) Kelly. Her role as a grandmother to Madison and Paige Long was imbued with endless love, fostering moments of laughter and learning that will be treasured forever. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Thora Bullard, who instilled in her the values of kindness and perseverance that she carried throughout her life. Georgia was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Sue Long. Georgia and Pam were very close even though Pam lived in New York City and later, San Francisco. Whenever Pam visited, the family got together and played lots of fun games together. Those who had the privilege of knowing Georgia will remember her for her friendliness, intelligence, and faith-filled existence. Georgia T. Long led a remarkable life that will be deeply missed and honored by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2026, at Asbury United Methodist Church 1751 27th Street with visitation beginning at Noon and service to be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Nick Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory.
