Gequetta Littrell
October 15, 1931 ~ March 7, 2025
We celebrate the vibrant and cherished life of Gequetta Littrell, who passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 93, in Plainfield, Indiana. Born on October 15, 1931, in Covington, Kentucky, Gequetta's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of devotion, kindness, and a feisty spirit.
Gequetta, the daughter of the late Walter Dewey and Myrtle Parrot Hilton, embarked on a journey of love on Christmas Day in 1949 when she married her beloved husband, Billy Clyde Littrell. Their marriage was a loving partnership that flourished for over 45 years until Clyde’s passing on July 9, 1995. Together, they savored life's simple pleasures, such as boating and traveling, embodying the essence of companionship and mutual adoration. She had a love for collecting jewelry as well as statues of eagles and angels.
Gequetta and her dad were blessed to be baptized together when she was 12 years old. She understood the value of her baptism and the importance of her faith, during the good times and the bad.
Gequetta also understood how important childhood development was. For several years she was a “volunteer grandma” at Clifty Creek Elementary School, eventually being honored by then Governor Bayh for her efforts in helping children learn to read.
With a knack for perfection, Gequetta found joy in maintaining an immaculate household, ensuring it was not only a home but a haven for her family. A resident of Columbus for most of her life, she embraced the community for 56 years before relocating to Avon to stay close to her family.
Gequetta's legacy is continued through her adoring family: her two daughters that she loved very much Sheila (Eric) Brauer and Tammi (Ron) Jessup; grandchildren Andrea (Chad) Hoover, Lauren (Kevin) Creutz, Matt Brauer, Ryan Jessup, and Sean (Alexis) Jessup; and spirited great-grandchildren Alexa, Callie, Augie, and Cillian Hoover as well as Caroline, Connor, Colin, and Corbin Creutz. She is preceded in death by her brothers Berlon and Paul Hilton.
A funeral service celebrating Gequetta’s life will be held at 11:00 on Friday, March 14th, 2025 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Hoover officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of service. Gequetta will be laid to rest next to her husband in Garland Brook Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Gequetta’s memory may do so to Mental Health America of Hendricks County or to the church of the donor’s choosing.
