Gladys Stephens

Gladys Stephens, 87, of Columbus, passed away on June 3, 2023, at Belmont Health and Rehab Center. She was born on July 1, 1935, in Columbus, Indiana to the late William Roe Burton and Ida Mae Abrell Burton. She was previously married to Genis Stephens. She was an employee at David R. Webb for 17 years, and enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening, and spending time with her family; they were the most important thing in her life. Gladys is survived by her children, Jerry Stephens, of Columbus, IN, Michael (Janet) Stephens, of Kentucky, Rick (Teresa) Burton, of Florida, Jeffery Randall Stephens, North Vernon, IN, and Wanda Cody, of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Megan (John) Rausch, Christina (Zach) Mercer, and Cheyenne Cody; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Rausch, Hazel Rausch, Noah Rausch, and Zayne Mercer. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Burton. In keeping with Gladys and her family’s wishes, no services are being held, and cremation is planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home.
