Glen Edward Babcock November 25, 1926 - October 29, 2006 Glen Edward Babcock, 79, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died at 9:02 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Glen was a longtime resident of Elkhart and recently moved to Columbus. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving on the USS Laffey. He retired from Steinhoffer Scale Company in Mishawaka, Ind. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Elkhart and Columbus and American Legion in Osceola and attended St. George Lutheran Church at Edinburgh. Glen enjoyed golfing, fishing, Chicago White Sox and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Babcock was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Andrew and Olga Jensen Babcock. He married Cynthia J. Sandin on April 30, 1950. Survivors include a daughter Connie (Ray) Burbrink of Edinburgh, Ind.; a son, John S. (Lorale) Babcock of Osceola, Ind.; and grandchildren, Valerie and Andrew Babcock and Allison and Scott Burbrink. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in March 2005; and a brother, John R. Jack Babcock. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at St. George Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jerry Curry officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. BURIAL: St. George Lutheran Church Cemetery.
