Harold David Whited, 84, of Hope, died at 8:30 a.m. May 28, 2019, at Miller's Merry Manor. Harold was born December 5, 1934, in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Charley and Ida Mae Derringer Whited.  He married Evelyn A. Moore February 27, 1954, and together they had two daughters, Sharon and Brenda. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in 1957. Harold retired in 1997 after working in the field of construction. He was a member of Healing Waters Church and was an ordained Baptist minister. He enjoyed singing bass in Bluegrass and Gospel groups and also played the acoustic guitar. Harold loved gardening, talking to people and eating sweets, especially ice cream and Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June  1, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Garris officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Phelps and Brenda G. Newsom; grandchildren, Lindsey Rust, Ashley Godsey and Jenny London; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kaiah and Simon. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters (out of 14 siblings). He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn on July 16, 1998; and several siblings.

He was such a good friend and always had a smile and a hug for everyone ..And yes he loved his sweets ..Loved just being around him ..He will be missed ..always will have good memories .
