My thoughts and prayers are with you all… Can’t believe another one of my father’s hunting buddies is gone… I now have comfort knowing that my father has his close hunting buddy with him.. I cherrish the memories of the stories that they would tell of the one’s that got away… memories are so precious… Thank God..

Harold Rodney Carr, 68, of Bellsville Pike, died at 7:47 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Harold was previously employed at Cummins Engine Company and in the Bartholomew County Maintenance Department before he became a minister. Prior to retiring from the ministry, Harold had ministered at the Hope, Indiana Wesleyan Church for five years and the Orleans, Indiana Wesleyan Church for 6 years.Harold was a member of Flintwood Wesleyan Church. He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army and was an avid outdoorsman. Harold was born Oct. 19, 1943 at Paris Crossing, the son of Newell B. and Ella Mackey Carr. He married Rita Jewell Curry Feb. 15, 1986. Survivors include his wife, Rita Jewell Curry Carr; sons, Ronald (Marilyn) Carr of Elizabethtown, Tracy (Dawn) Curry, Tony (Lisa) Curry and Jeffrey (Cyndi) Curry, all of Columbus; a daughter, Sherie (Bobby) Boyett of Boaz, KY; brothers,- Benjamin Carr of North Vernon, Eddie Carr and Max Carr, both of Seymour; sisters, Ellamae Pickron of Axis, AL, Marilyn Terry of Seymour; grandchildren, Jordan Blankman, Chelsea (Tim) Ellington, Mason Boyett, Brooke McElroy, Brandon McElroy, Allison Carr, Gabriella Carr, Nathanial Carr, Levi Curry, Cameron Curry, Ashley Curry, Alyssa Curry, Lydia Curry; and a great-grandchild, Olivia Lynn Ellington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and John Carr; and sisters, Betty Engleking and Joy Fay Carr. FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, at Flintwood Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Wes Jones and Everett Freels officiating. CALLING: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. Brother Carr preached for one of our Communion Services during May Ministerial Seminar while he was pastor at Orlean’s Wesleyan. Always thought of him as a very humble and caring man…the epitome of the holiness preacher should be.Prayers for the family.
