Harold "Skeeter" Lane May 04, 1928 - August 18, 2006 Harold Skeeter Lane, 78, of Olmstead Drive, Columbus, Ind., died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at Columbus Regional Hospital Harold was a Navy veteran and a retired welder from Cummins Engine Company after 40 years of service. He enjoyed the companionship with his fellow Pulmonary Rehab patients, fishing, dancing, playing the slot machines and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Lane was born May 4, 1928 in Columbus, Ind., the son of Emerson Edmond and Mary Agnes Schmitz Lane. He married Betty Rathsman on Oct. 5, 1951. Survivors include his wife; sons, Mark Lane and Mike (Jackie) Lane, both of Columbus; a daughter, Jeannette (Gordon) Merrill of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Natalie Lane, Christopher (Valerie) Lane, Harrison Lane, Sarah Kreitzer and Matthew Kreitzer. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters. Funeral Information FUNERAL:A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, with Father Clem Davis officiating. VISITATION: Monday, August 21, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at JewellRittman Family Funeral Home with a rosary service conducted at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
