Harry Spurgeon April 05, 1939 - November 28, 2006 Harry "Gene" Spurgeon, 67, of Della Road died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Indianapolis. Mr. Spurgeon retired from Golden Foundry after 38 years of service. He attended Jewell Village Separate Baptist Church, loved NASCAR, was an avid Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan, and loved being with his grandkids and being outdoors. Born in Bartholomew County April 5, 1939, Mr. Spurgeon was the son of Lester and Dorothy Conrad Spurgeon. He married Margaret "Sissy" Griffin May 5, 1972. Survivors include daughters, Lisa (Martin) Roberts, Veronica (Phil) Sharp and Tawana "Dinkie" (David) Jones, all of Columbus; brothers, James, Earl, Ronald, David and Donald Spurgeon and Charles Peters, all of Columbus; sisters, Norma Jean Plummer of Florida, Mary McIntyre of Columbus and Peggy Woling of Milan; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 5, 2005; daughters, Shenna Michelle Spurgeon and Trina Gail Spurgeon; a brother, Larry Spurgeon; and three sisters. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Glenn Poynter and Danny Bragg officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday November 30, 2006 and from noon until service time Friday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
