Harry retired from Cummins Engine Company, where he worked in the gauge lab and served as a foreman. In addition to his career at Cummins, he was a lifelong farmer who raised a variety of crops, including green beans and blackberries. He especially enjoyed mentoring the young people who worked alongside him.
Harry and Joann spent nearly 30 winters fishing at Toledo Bend Reservoir near Many, Louisiana, where they welcomed family and friends and enjoyed evenings filled with card games and dominoes. He also enjoyed woodworking, listening to Cincinnati Reds baseball, and, in his younger years, hunting raccoons and pheasants.

My whole life growing up, our vacations were spent together. Fishing and camping in Red Lake Ontario. My dad (Perry Don) and Uncle Harry loved fishing. Later both my dad and Uncle Harry spent winters and had homes on Toledo Bend Lake. Both brothers were bull headed and both stubborn but loved spending time together. Every spring break my kids had to go down there for fishing. Canada was the best though. Have great memories with Joe Bill, Aunt Joan, and grandpa fishing. Miss them all.

I spent alot of my early years with Harry T. I consider myself lucky to have been able to spend so much time working with Harry & Perry Don. I learned so much in thier willingness to make the effort and the sacrifice of thier time to give so many the opportunity. Unmatched character in every aspect of humanity.
One of my favorite memories is when Jim and I went to Toledo Bend for our “honeymoon”. We met up with Harry and Joann, Perry and Pat, Alan and Karen, Mom and Dad, Elmer and Chris. We fished, all ate together, and played games. We all stayed in cabins and RVs. Later I spent numerous weekends in the “Whipker Circle” , Harry,Perry, and occasionally Brad. We slept in Harry and Joann’s trailer and played dominoes. We even went there before a hurricane that was to hit Houston, TX, but it ended up hitting 60 miles from Toledo Bend. Thanks for all the good times, Harry and Joann!
