Helen E. Purdue, 97, of Columbus, passed away on April 26, 2023, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Helen was born April 2, 1926, in Columbus, the daughter of George Harold and Mary T. Wade Smith. She married Ernest P. Purdue on November 18, 1943.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Helen is survived by her daughter Judith K. (Lloyd) Artis of Columbus; grandchildren Katrina L. (Kevin) Artis Coryell, Brian K. (Annette) Purdue, Eric M. (Amy) Purdue, and Melissa Purdue; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest on August 27, 1996; a son, William "Don" Purdue; brothers Gordon Smith, Joseph Smith, and Paul Smith; and a sister Mae Wilds.
