Helen Frances Horning Hoskins, 96, of The Woodlands in Muncie, died Tuesday, Aug, 23, 2011, in Muncie. Mrs. Hoskins graduated from Columbus High School in 1934 and from Ball State University in 1967 with a B.A. in Art Education. She taught elementary art in Muncie community schools from 1970 to 1985. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Muncie Civic Garden Club, Teacher's Bowling League and High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie. She enjoyed world travel, ballroom dancing, drawing, painting, flower gardening and clothing construction. Born in Columbus June 2, 1915, Mrs. Hoskins was the daughter of Orval and Pauline Fox Horning. She married Albert B. Hoskins Oct. 10, 1936. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Hoskins is survived by sons, Mike Famous (Partner, Laurence Hoffman) of Chicago, IL, and John Hoskins (Mary) of Denver, CO; a daughter, Judith Carr (James) of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wray (Randal) of Muncie, IN, and Jayma Mosher (David) of Fort Wayne, IN; and a sister, Doris Cook of Sweetser, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mary Louise Stark; and a niece, Deborah Cook Baker. SERVICES: FUNERAL - will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Aigner officiating. CALLING - will be Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. BURIAL - will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS - may be made to Ball State University Foundation, P.O. Box 672, Muncie, IN 47308, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
