Hetty "Becky" Rebecca Knose

hetty

October 12, 1928 ~ June 5, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hetty Rebecca Knose, “Becky,” from this earthly life. However, we do find great peace in knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior as well as her beloved husband, Kenneth. Becky was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on June 5, 2024, at 4:39 in the afternoon, at Hospice of South-Central Indiana. To know Becky was to love her; she had an infectious spirit and a true love for the Lord and anyone she met. Since the passing of her husband, thousands of bookmarks have been printed entitled, “The Prayer of Faith.” They have been given to countless people she would see while running errands as a way of spreading the word of Jesus while honoring her sweet husband whom she was married to for 58 years. She was the epitome of a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. Becky never said a bad word about anyone, saw the best in everyone, and never thought about complaining. The family knows Becky would want to thank again all the staff, or her “friends” as she called everyone, at Silver Oaks Health Campus, Traditions of Columbus, and Hospice of South-Central Indiana. Becky was born on October 12, 1928, to the late Hetty Lucille Fess and Wilber B. Fess in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hetty Rebecca Knose and Kenneth Adrian Knose met in Cincinnati, Ohio at a youth group when they were around eighteen and nineteen years of age. Their relationship and marriage were strongly anchored around God. Becky took a job in Cleveland, Ohio where she ran a lunch counter. She would take the bus back and forth to visit Ken as well as her parents. Ken was selling law books door to door at the time. They were married on February 19, 1950, at Walnut Hills Christian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. They lived in various towns in Ohio including Cincinnati, Lakewood, and Youngstown. Their first daughter, Jenny, was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on June 5, 1952, before they moved to Ludington, Michigan where their second daughter, Cindy, was born on August 27, 1955. Ken and Becky then moved to Berne, Indiana in 1962 where they worked with Becky’s parents running a Ben Franklin store. Eventually they took over and ran this store together until their retirement. They have left a legacy of love including their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many summers and Christmases were spent at their “pond” house in Berne, Indiana with family; countless memories were made. Grandma enjoyed gardening, traveling, sunbathing, reading, cooking, spending time with family, and attending church. Images still come to mind of grandma waving from her three-tiered garden on the “pond” where they planted various fruits and vegetables. Performances by her grandchildren were enjoyed accompanied by handmade programs. Trips to the cheese factory, Ben Franklin, and Ouabache state park were regular occurrences which are held with fond memories. Fourth of July celebrations were an annual tradition, and Frank would put on a show for everyone. Christmas on the pond was always magical, and she had a way of making everything special. Becky loved the sun, and she and Ken would spend many winter months traveling cross country to Mexico. They preferred to take their time traveling to their destination always going a different way than they came. Becky and Ken moved to Columbus, Indiana around 2002 and again they bought a house on a pond. Ken preceded her in death in 2008 and left a huge void in her life, but she continued with the same joy and love for life. Becky was able to live on her own until the age of 95 in this same house where she was able to enjoy her great grandchildren. She was an amazing woman who radiated sunshine everywhere she went. She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Up until the end of her life, she was thanking God and telling him how blessed she truly was to have this beautiful family and her incredible ninety-five years of life. We are the ones who were blessed to have her with us for all these years. Becky is survived by her two daughters, Jenny Ann Miller (Frank Miller), of Columbus, IN; Cynthia Lee Neuenschwander (Keith Neuenschwander) of Goshen, IN; grandchildren Megan Coffey (Lucas Coffey) of Franklin, IN; Rachel Miller of Indianapolis, IN; Emily James (David James) of Hohenwald, Tennessee, and Kiante Neuenschwander of Goshen, IN. Her great grandchildren are: Kaiden Miller, Dominick James, Elliot Jarnagin, Briella Coffey, Crosby Jarnagin, and Abigail James. She was proceeded in death by her husband Kenneth Adrian Knose, granddaughter Brenda Nicole Battice, and great grandson Isaiah Luke Coffey. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to commemorate the life of Hetty Rebecca Knose. Burial will be next to Ken at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of South-Central Indiana or Westside Community Church, Columbus, Indiana. 1. Dear Sweet Becky was a true joy when I met her! I met her at her grandson’s birthday party. I could tell right away she was my Sister in Christ! Her joy radiated our Dear Heavenly Father!! I let her know I too was a Christian. She shared with me how she prayed for her family constantly! She wanted to be a true witness to her children and grandchildren. I told her I could tell right away she had Jesus in her heart. I will NEVER forget that day as she was exactly what I needed that day!
I look forward to seeing Becky again in Heaven.
What a blessing she was to all who knew her!!!
    Love,
    Dorene

  3. I loved this lady. She was my friend and my Resident. May God bless her and her family at this time. You will be truly missed!! Love always, Tammy Lockhart, RN

  4. The first time I met Becky, I had held a door open for her. She stopped what she was doing and handed me a bookmark with the Lords Prayer on it as a thank you. I don’t know if she ever knew how much I needed to feel Gods presence in my life at that moment, or how that small gesture impacted me but I truly believe God sent her in that moment to give me reassurance that he is with me. I never told her, but I will always be grateful to her for that. Becky was truly one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and she will be missed.
