Hildreth M. Hodler March 06, 1924 - August 18, 2007 Hildreth M. Hodler, 83, of Columbus died Saturday; August 18, 2007 at 10:20 p.m. at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Hildreth was born on March 6, 1924 in West Terre Haute, Indiana to John and Hazel Hewitt Medley. Her early childhood was spent in rural Clark county Illinois, where she attended a number of small one room schoolhouses, graduating from the eighth grade in 1938. Since there were no school buses, she walked to and from school for eight years. She attended Marshall Illinois High School, graduating in 1942. She entered Terre Haute Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1942, graduating in 1945. From 1944-1945 she was a member of the United States Army Cadet Nurse Corps. (USACNC). Along with three of her classmates, she was recruited by the late Olive Murphy to come to Columbus and work at Bartholomew County Hospital. She worked at Bartholomew County Hospital from 1945 to 1985. During this same period she worked as the office nurse for the late Dr. George Macy. Hildreth Marie Medley was married to Paul C. Hodler on Sunday August 17, 1947 and celebrated their 60th anniversary on August 17, 2007. To this union were born two children; Becky (Don) Holderman of Muncie, and Andy Hodler of Lakewood, Colorado. She was a member of the First Christian Church and The Loyal Couples Sunday School Class. She is survived by four grandchildren, Adam C. (Carrie) Holderman of Indianapolis, Sarah Marie Holderman of Muncie, Shannon Marie Beck and Andrea E. Hodler, both of Colorado. Also, one great-grandson, Christian Beck of Colorado. She is also survived by two nephews, John and Robert Medley; and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Burton and Levi Medley. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Wednesday; August 22, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Yeaton officiating. VISITATION: Tuesday; August 21, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
