Homer E. Starnes, 60, of Road 650W died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Starnes retired from Cummins Engine Co. where he worked for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, tractor pulls and spending time with his grandchildren.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Born in Seymour Nov. 30, 1945, Mr. Starnes was the son of Carl E. and Dortha L. Jester Starnes. He married Kimberly D. Hurd on Feb. 2, 1990.
Survivors include his mother, of Columbus; his wife; sons, Jeffrey E. Starnes and Jeremy J. Hurd, both of Columbus; daughters, Kimberly K. Morgan and Jacqueline N. Hien, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Jakob and Victoria Paige Morgan, Nicholas Tarter and Alison Hien; and a sister, Sammy Jester of Norman.
He was preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Brenda K. Fivecoat Starnes on Sept. 3, 1986; and sisters, Jean Scott and Pam Starnes.
