Ira Larry Byers June 15, 1925 - September 15, 2009 Ira Larry Byers, 84, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Hospice of Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Larry retired from Colonial Life Insurance where he was a salesman. After retirement, he worked for Feeney-Hornack Funeral Home selling prearranged funerals. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, serving from 1943 to 1946 and from 1950 to 1952. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, and was a Star Trek fan. Larry loved music and was active in the music department at his church. Larry was born June 15, 1925 in Indianapolis, the son of William Ira and Edith G. Cavett Byers. He married Norma G. Lewis. She survives. Survivors include a son, Martin Byers of Greenwood; a daughter, Nina (Rex) Daniel of Columbus; grandchildren, Shelly (Vince) Abbott, Amanda (Yancy) Murphy, Jason Byers, and Beth Ann Byers; six great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew, Sherilyn Stutsman and Steven Stutsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (James) Stutsman. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at First Church of the Nazarene in Columbus with the Rev. Bryan E. Solomon officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at First Church of the Nazarene, 9401 E. 25th Street in Indianapolis, Additional calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church in Columbus.
