Jack Lee Jones, 87, of Columbus, died at home on January 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
Jack was born June 21, 1935, in Indianapolis, the son of William and Loretta (Gibson) Jones. He married Helen (Kidd) Jones on January 2, 1996.
Jack worked and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service, and was a handyman around Columbus. In his free time, he liked to fish, enjoyed traveling, love to visit the Smokey Mountains & attending shows. Jack enjoyed watching western movies and listening to old country music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with John Marquis officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard to follow.
Memorials may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation through the funeral home.
Survivors include son, Jack (Tonya) Lee Jones II of Trafalgar; daughter, Tina (Tony) Sichting of Morgantown; stepdaughter, Lisa Dampier of Connersville; grandchildren, Jesse (Jessica) Jones of Trafalgar, Robert Payton and Travis (Sarah) Payton both of Brown County, Serena Dampier of Connersville, Josh (Mary) Brock of Indianapolis, Britney Lunsford of Connersville, Nicholas Dampier of Connersville, Jarrod Gentry of North Vernon; great-grandchildren, Jamie Jones, Jaxson Jones, Kaceik Lunsford, Liam Lunsford, and Maveryck Spurlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen; brothers, Bill, Bob, Floyd, and Larry Jones; and sisters, Lorena Johnson, Vi Goodwin, Dorothy Doyle, Betty Rush, Juanita Tableman, Clara Jones, and Katie Jones.

Jack was a great friend and neighbor. I remember the big smile on his face when he brought Serena’s puppy down to show me.
