James A. Burton July 13, 1938 - February 02, 2010 James A. Burton, 71, of Deputy, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at his home. Mr. Burton, an Air Force veteran, retired from Cummins Engine Company and was an Indiana thoroughbred horse owner and breeder. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, card playing and horse racing. Born in Bethany July 13, 1938, Mr. Burton was the son of Frank S. Burton and Maude Harmon Duggin. He married Lois F. Brown. Survivors include his wife; a son, James A. Jimmy (Connie) Burton of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Sandra (Ron) Rosenbalm of North Vernon, Sonya (Teddy) Rose of Brown County and Kimberly (Travis) Burton of Greenwood; grandchildren, Russell and A.J. Waltman, Jake Burton and Culley and Sarah Burton; great-grandchildren, Gracie Waltman, Russell and Rachel Waltman, Alan Waltman and Chyanne Waltman; brothers, Frank Burton of Madison and Paul Duggin of Elizabethtown; and sisters, Nellie Sexton of Elizabethtown, Margaret Hensley of Columbus and Eula Duggin of Scottsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alta Perdue. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernie Lamb officiating. CALLING: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 p.m. until service time Friday. BURIAL: Scipio Cemetery with military rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
