James Benton Fields June 06, 1929 - March 03, 2008 James Benton Fields, 78, of Columbus went to be with Jesus at 8:20 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008. Mr. Fields was born to Robert and Pearlie Mae Johnson Fields in Neon, Ky., on June 6, 1929. He moved to Columbus in 1951 and retired from Reliance Electric after 25 years of service. He married Joyce Rose Fields Aug. 20, 1992. He was a member of Lowell General Baptist Church and a lifetime member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge No. 20. He and his wife loved gospel music and visited nursing homes to sing to the patients. Mr. Fields is survived by his wife; sons, Shelvy Bodie (LaVern) Fields of Millstone, Ky., Roger Dale (Josephine) Fields of Whitesburg, Ky., Eddie Dean Fields of Shively, Ky., James Howard (Beth) Fields of New Whiteland, Lucky Dean (Barb) Fields of Columbus and Donnie (Linda) Edwards of Jenkins, Ky.; daughters, Wilma (Theo) Sinkeldam of Cocoa, Fla., Glenna (John) Patterson of North Vernon, Kathy (Andy) Anderson of Trenton, Fla., Julie (Jerry Cox) Dover of Columbus, Amy (Scott) Sutton of Whiteland, Jan (Gerald) Hall of Jenkins, Ky., and Regina (Greg) Henson of Seymour; brothers, Dave (Rosemary) Fields of Sorrento, Fla., and Gid (Percilla) Fields of Otisco; 39 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lansford, Colvert, Shelby and Monroe; and sisters, Ollie and Mary Alice. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. BURIAL: Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
