James D. Suddeth of Rost Drive passed away in the comfort of his home and family on April 27th at 7:40 p.m. James had been ill for a lengthy time with Parkinsons disease.
James served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
James was born on June 14, 1931 to Charlotte and the late Hubert Suddeth. James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Brockman. God blessed James with a wonderful family. Besides his wife, he is also survived by his mother Charlotte Huffman Suddeth of Columbus, Indiana, his Aunt Marie Huffman Walker of Terre Haute, IN, a daughter Karen (Todd) Hazelbaker of Waldron, IN, a son Derek Collins of Los Angeles, CA and three grandchildren; Diana (Robert) Booth of New Palestine, IN, Alicia (Thomas) Cardin of Ft. Hood, TX, and Matthew (Amber Poynter) Baxter of Shelbyville, IN. There are also six great grandchildren.
James retired from the Aerospace industry in Rancho Cordova, CA specializing in Engineering and then retired from Cummins Engine Company as a Fuel System Specialist.
Funeral Information
VISITATION: Viewing will take place at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30th between 4:00 until 7:30 p.m.
SERVICES: There will be a short prayer service by Rev. Barbara Grace at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
BURIAL: A private military burial will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Donations Information
MEMORIALS: In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Columbus for all the care and support they have given during this difficult time.
