James E. "Jim" Malone June 25, 1921 - September 13, 2009 James E. Jim Malone, 88, of Elizabethtown, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. James was in the CCC camp and was a WWII Air Force veteran. James was a retired Columbus City Street Commissioner. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. His hobbies were music and working on bicycles. James was born June 25, 1921 in Albany, KY, the son of James W. Jake and Cora D. Kearney Malone. He married Juanita M. Willen Dec. 22, 1941. She survives. Other survivors include a son, John D. (Ruthie) Malone of Elizabethtown; daughters, Kathryn Redwood of Ukiah, CA and Judy C. Bryant of Columbus; sisters, Lorene Brown and Rosie Conner, both of Albany, KY; grandchildren, Shelly Driver, Lisa Wright, Mike (Cathy) Malone, John (Candi) George, Steve (Amy) George, Justin Malone, Matt Malone, Jason Malone and Jeremy Adams; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James E. Malone Jr. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home . VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
