James "Jamie" B. Kessler April 01, 1957 - July 12, 2007 James B. Jamie Kessler, 50, of North Keith Drive died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Kessler had been employed at Cosco for 24 years and also worked for Columbus Parks and Recreation Department. He was a member of Hartsville Church of Christ, the Elks and Moose lodges and the Scottish Rite and also was a 32nd Degree Mason at Hope Masonic Lodge. He was a leader in Junior Achievement, was involved in Big Brothers and Big Sisters, was a former Big Brother of the Year, and remained close to his little brother, Billy. He had many, many friends, loved his little dog, Sassie, and had a great love for his family, taking care of his father for three years while he was sick. He loved classic cars and enjoyed NASCAR and Indy Car racing. Of all the many locations in the world, Florida was the place he wanted to spend all of his time. Born in Greensburg April 1, 1957, Mr. Kessler was the son of James E. and Nina Kessler. Survivors include his mother, of Columbus; his stepfather, Charles Clair of Columbus; his good friend, Michelle Manuel of the Philippines; brothers, Steven and Michael (Vicky) Kessler, both of Columbus; a sister, Dawn (Ken) Staggs of Columbus; a stepson, Adrian Peterson of Columbus; a stepbrother, Casey Clair of Costa Rica; a stepsister, Lori Corder of Stillwater, Okla.; a close friend, Faye; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Kessler; his grandparents, Howard Buell, Virginia Ramer, Marion B. and Donald Earl Kessler; and five cousins. Funeral Information VISITATION: Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. FUNERAL: A Masonic service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, followed by the funeral, with the Rev. Heath Harrison officiating. BURIAL: Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Donations Information Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Cancer Society.
