James N. Lawson February 16, 1926 - May 08, 2008 James N. Lawson, 82, of Franklin, formerly of Columbus, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Franklin Meadows Nursing Home Mr. Lawson retired in 1983 from Thompson Dairy. He served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 9, 1943, until April 10, 1946, on the U.S.S. Comfort hospital ship. He was a life member of Columbus Veterans of Foreign Wars. He dearly loved animals and music and never met a stranger. Born in Gatesville Feb. 16, 1926, Mr. Lawson was the son of David and Mary E. Morrison Bannister. Survivors include a son, Michael S. (Edna) Lawson of Franklin; daughters, Carlotta G. (Gary) Mitchell of Louisville, Ky., and Sarah J. Lawson of Columbus; grandchildren, Tammy Smith, Steven Mitchell, Betsy and Matthew Fields, Shawn and Alan Atwood and Donna Bell; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Gary Smith and Clayton and Ashton Fields. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Lawson, in 1991; three brothers; and one sister. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Smiley Bennett officiating. VISITATION: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday. BURIAL: Rest Haven Cemetery.
