James P. "J.P." Hardesty

James P. “J.P.” Hardesty, 95, of Columbus, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at his home.
J.P. was born January 4, 1925 in Mt. Eden, Kentucky, the son of Leonard Hardesty and Waldene (Puckett) Hardesty. He married Carolyn G. Greathouse on October 24, 1964.
J.P. was an army veteran who served in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired from Duke Energy. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was a skilled carpenter.
A private family graveside service will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Survivors include his wife; Carolyn G. Hardesty; sons, Clifford McDaniel of Indianapolis, and Jay (Beth) Hardesty of Nashville; a daughter, Brenda Hardesty of Seymour; a sister, Lillian Riley of Georgia; grandchildren, Jaycee, Elizabeth, David, Andrew, Zachary, Jacob, and Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
