James T. "Jim" Meredith

Meredith, 77, of West Georgetown Road, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at his home. James retired from Arvin in 2001 after 48 years of service. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Born in Brown County May 2, 1936, James was the son of Monte Thurston Meredith and Lennie Folks Meredith. He married Ruth E. Reed May 6, 1956. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Billy (Donita) Meredith of Columbus, Indiana, Bobby (Nanette) Meredith of Hermitage, Tennessee, and Orville (Jennifer) Meredith of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters, Mildred (Kevin) Hobson of Norman, Indiana, Melinda (Mark) Stroup of North Vernon, Indiana, and Judy Meredith of Columbus, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary Meredith of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Sharon Aull of Columbus, Indiana, and Barbara Wilson of Halltown, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
