James W. McKinney June 17, 1926 - March 26, 2008 James W. McKinney, 81, of Coovert Street died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. McKinney was born in Seymour but lived his early life in Freetown and graduated from Freetown High School. He retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 38 years of service. He was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church, CREAK Club and Bartholomew County Conservation Club and a longtime member of the Mustang Club. Born June 17, 1926, Mr. McKinney was the son of Preston and Flossie Harris McKinney. He married Elizabeth M. Whipker July 30, 1950. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Debra (James) Reichle of League City, Texas, Rita (Kerry) Bailey of Lucas, Texas, and Beth (Robby) Lane of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Reichle, Carla Bailey, Collin Bailey and Sarah Bailey, Rachel Lane, Steven Lane and Ryan Lane; and a sister, Doris Rumph of Sarasota, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell Gene McKinney; and a grandson, Jeremy Lane. Funeral Information VISITATION: Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home and also Friday from noon until the time of service. FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday March 28, 2008 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating.
