SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8th, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Tieke officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday April 7th, 2014 and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, St. Peters Lutheran Church, and Whitecreek Lutheran School. Janet L. Johnson, 78, of County Road 500E, died at 10:22 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at her home. She was born in Hope, August 4, 1935, the daughter of the late James D. and Wilma E. Herron Frazee. She married Lorin C. Johnson on August 24, 1950, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2012. Janet was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. She was active in the healthcare field in many capacities, having been employed at Bartholomew County Hospital (now Columbus Regional Hospital) in the labor and delivery department, previously owned and operated Shady Lane Nursing Home, and was the administrator of Columbus Nursing Home. She then was employed at Turning Point as a Crisis Counselor. Along with her husband, she founded Raft to Rafters Incorporated where she was Secretary and Treasurer for the corporation. Janet enjoyed many things in life, especially traveling, shopping, and crocheting. She loved kids, especially being a mom and grandmother, and enjoyed attending her grand children's activities. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and a woman of strong faith. She is survived by a son, Randy (Lisa) Johnson of Columbus; daughters, Jennifer (George) Lockhart of Seymour, Amber (Mike) Owens of Columbus and Tammy (David) Miller of Columbus; grandchildren, Tina Lockhart, Katie Douglas, Bill Lockhart, Lisa Critney, Matthew Miller, Micah Owens, Jeremy Johnson and Justin St. John; a brother, Steve (Ruth) Frazee of Columbus; four great-grandsons, seven great-granddaughters, one great-great-granddaughter, one great-great-grandson as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Janet was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Lorin Johnson; brothers, Billy and Joe Frazee; and a sister, Betty Powell Daniels.
