Janice Smith

Janice Smith, 76, of Columbus, passed away Thursday December 28, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Janice was born March 13, 1941 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Boyd and Vergie Caudill Banks. She married William N. Smith. Janice was a member of Flintwood Wesleyan Church, and was highly active in many activities there. She retired from Kirklin’s Hallmark, enjoyed decorating her home, and belonged to the Moose Lodge #398. Janice was a fantastic mother to her sons. She will be deeply missed. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include her sons Phillip (Charline) Ison of Hope and Russell L. (Sharon) Ison of Versailles; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Jerry (Doris) Banks of Eolia, Kentucky; and a sister Julia Shoemaker of Schaumburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband William as well as her parents.
