Janie A. Spicer

Janie A. Spicer, 75, of Columbus, died at 9:55 p.m. June 5, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Janie was born November 15, 1943, in Adair County, Kentucky, the daughter of Thomas Van and Thelma Irene Dixon Giles.  She married Lonnie D. Spicer May 11, 1994. In 1999 she retired from Como Plastics. Janie loved riding horses, barrel racing, gardening, pitching horse shoes and playing jacks. The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Calling will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Daughtery Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ogilville Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Lonnie; children, Julie (Jerry) Doty and Jimmy D. (Rhonda) Bryant, both of Columbus; stepchildren, Kimberly Hawn of Seymour and Melissa (Mont) Hammond of Scipio; brothers, Charles Giles of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Franklin Giles of Florida and sisters, Francis Reynolds of Columbia, Kentucky, and Judy (Dwight) Jones of Freetown; grandchildren, Talara (Joey) McNicholas, Randi (Jeremy) Weaver, Amber Bryant, Cody Bryant and Jacki Gabehart; and great-grandchildren, Haley, Faith, Laina and Brilee. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Van Giles and mother, Thelma Irene Hopkins; son, Timothy E. Gabehart; brother, Buck Giles; and a grandchild, Timothy Shane Bowen.
