Jarvis Van Burton, 45, of Columbus, died at 12:23 p.m. January 28, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Jarvis was born June 13, 1974 in Columbus, the son of Junior Van Burton and Ruth Bolton. He married Misty Dawn (Bay) Burton, October 2, 2005. Jarvis was a loving son, husband, dad, brother and papa. He was employed for 28 years at Drug Plastics Closures as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and he loved playing Pokémon go. What he treasured most was his family and the precious memories. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2020, and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Misty Dawn Burton; father, Junior Van Burton of North Vernon; sons, Tyler ( Julie Barnhart) Thomas of Columbus, and Justin (Maddy) Burton of Franklin; daughter, Ashton (Jeffrey Richards) Thomas of Madison; sisters, Jennifer (Jeremy Brody) Meier of North Vernon, Melissa (Chris) Swanson of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Maranda Eldridge of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, and Jamie (Eric) Casto of Franklin; brothers, Rodney (Kim) Carroll of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Scott Carroll of Ellijay, Georgia, and Joe Carroll of Ellijay, Georgia; brother-in-laws, Michael and Patrick Bay, and Napoleon Jackson,; grandchildren, Lila Lynn Marie Richards, and Jensen Van Burton; aunts and uncles, Paul Meier and Louise Dixon, and several other aunts and uncles; father-in-law, Floyd Bay; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Renee Torres, Johnathon Meier, Nicholas Meier, Breanna Bennett, Autumn Eldridge, Amber Brock, Christian Fowler, Bubba Brock, Brayden Eldridge and several other nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ruth Bolton Carroll and Kenneth Carroll; sister, Samantha Jackson; and mother-in-law, Janet Bay.
