Jean H. LaSell, 65, of Maple Street, died October 3, 2017, at his home. Jean was born November 18, 1951, in Columbus, the son of Jean Hamilton LaSell and Julia Louise Koch LaSell. He was a 1969 graduate of Columbus North High School. He loved to play his guitar in the band Knee Deep and enjoyed music and composing his own songs. Jean also enjoyed shopping and finding unusual items. The funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Sans Souci. Survivors include his daughter, Jeanette Booher, whom he was very proud of along with her accomplishments, and her husband, Kevin Hanson, both of Denver, Colorado; his companion, Eileen Booher of Columbus; brothers, William "Bill" LaSell of Hershey, Pennsylvania, and John LaSell of Ramsey, Minnesota; sisters, Bertha Oyler of Columbus, Leonora Hotker of Perth, Australia, and Carol Howard of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Ellen LaSell.

  1. So sorry to hear of the passing of Jean. We had a lot of fun times together in high school. He always made me laugh. He will be missed. Be comforted in knowing that he is now in a much better place!

  2. Jean Harry was one of the neighborhood gang — John Hanou, Brian Vautaw, Harold Force, Jerry Lohmeyer, and me. We had great times together to be sure.
